Submission Guidelines for Literary Fiction

In addition to the general submission policy, literary fiction submitted to Cordelia Press must follow the guidelines listed below:

  1. Literary fiction is writing that is character-centered, rather than plot-centered, and that achieves a heightened sense of language, with vivid detail.

  2. In general, literary fiction is quality writing that does not fit into a specific genre (romance, fantasy, science fiction, etc).

  3. Examples of writers of literary fiction include John Updike, Margaret Atwood, and Barbara Kingsolver.

If you have any questions regarding your literary fiction submission, please contact Editor in Chief Jolan Warren Bishop (Editor@cordeliapress.com).
