Submission Guidelines for Romance

In addition to the general submission policy, romances submitted to Cordelia Press must follow the guidelines listed below:

  1. Cordelia Press does not accept erotic romance.  Keep things at an R-rated level or lower.

  2. Cordelia Press defines romance as a one-on-one relationship between a man (hero) and a woman (heroine).  We do not accept homosexual romances or “open relationship” stories.  Plural relationships (ala “Big Love”) may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

  3. Romance readers are looking for a realistic, happy ending.  By the end of the story, the hero and the heroine should be in, or on their way to, a monogamous relationship.

  4. If your story is a romance that also fits into another genre (inspirational romance, historical romance, paranormal romance, etc), you may submit to either line.  Please do not submit to both lines—if the Senior Editor feels it requires the attention of another editor, the editor will pass the manuscript along.

If you have any questions regarding your romance submission, please contact Editor in Chief Jolan Warren Bishop (Editor@cordeliapress.com).
